What is YouTube RPM?
Revenue per mille (RPM) is your estimated total revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube's revenue share. CPM, by contrast, is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions before that share. Not every view shows an ad, so CPM is not the same as creator RPM.
How does the calculator work?
Estimated Revenue = Views ÷ 1,000 × RPM. Multiply the monthly estimate by 12 for a year at the same view level, or divide by 30 for a daily average. Both are simplified projections; they do not account for month-to-month changes.
How much does YouTube pay for 1,000 views?
There is no universal fixed payment. Actual RPM depends on which views are monetized, your audience, content, ads, season and eligibility. Enter your own RPM if you have data from YouTube Studio.
How much can 100,000 YouTube views make?
At 100,000 views, multiply your RPM by 100. For instance, an illustrative $2 RPM would give $200; a $5 RPM would give $500. Neither figure is a guaranteed payout.
How much can 1 million YouTube views make?
At one million views, multiply your RPM by 1,000. The range changes with the RPM you enter: $2 RPM gives an illustrative $2,000, while $5 RPM gives $5,000. Use your own channel data for a more relevant estimate.
YouTube Long-form vs Shorts Revenue
Long-form videos and Shorts have different monetization systems. Shorts ad revenue is pooled and allocated differently from ads on long-form watch pages, so you should not apply a long-form RPM to Shorts views. This calculator uses separate illustrative Shorts assumptions; it does not claim a fixed Shorts RPM.
YouTube Shorts earnings
Shorts can generate revenue for eligible creators, but view counts alone do not determine payment. Select Shorts above to use its separate illustrative inputs, or enter an RPM from your own Shorts analytics.
Factors that affect YouTube earnings
Audience geography, niche, RPM, advertiser demand, seasonality, video length, monetization eligibility, ad impressions, viewer behavior and content type all matter. Your monthly results can fluctuate even when total views stay similar.
